Hog Killin’ Day Demonstration
Jan 21, 2008—The Tobacco Farm Life Museum in Kenly, NC is hosting an Old Fashioned Hog Killin’ Day demonstration and dinner on Saturday, January 26 at the museum site in Kenly, just off Interstate 95 North, exit 107.
The events begin at 8 a.m. with the cutting out of the meat, drying of the lard, pressing of the cracklin’s, drying of the skins and the making of sausage. The dinner will be served at 11 a.m., consisting of chicken pastry, baked sweet potato, hot cracklin’s, hog hash, collards, hush puppies, a homemade dessert and tea. The $10 per pate fee will benefit the museum, and the tickets can be purchased in advance or on the day of the event.
