Rain damages some of Pakistan’s tobacco nurseries

Tobacco nurseries in Pakistan’s North-West Frontier province are suffering from persistent rains.

The Pakistan Tobacco Board said in a statement, “Due to incessant rains, the tobacco nurseries for the 2005 crop are being adversely affected due to possible algal growth, attach of damping-off disease, cold injury and the presence of vegetable weevils in the seed beds.”
