Zimbabwe’s government unlikely to realize output goal



The Zimbabwe Tobacco Association (ZTA) doubts the country’s farmers will meet the government’s projected output of 160 million kg of leaf in the upcoming season. The ZTA says 80 million kg is a more likely outcome because of a lack of funding and a shortage of inputs. The ZTA adds that a coal shortage and high transport costs are also inhibiting factors.
